Roadside Assistance Basics Every Washington Driver Should Know

Dead batteries, flat tires, and lockouts happen to everyone. Here is how to prepare — and when to call for help.

Most drivers use roadside help at some point — usually at the worst possible moment. A little preparation and the right phone number make it a small inconvenience instead of a bad day.

The big four roadside calls

  • Dead battery and jump-start
  • Flat tire that cannot be changed safely on site
  • Keys locked in the car
  • Ran out of fuel

Our 24/7 roadside assistance covers all four across the South Puget Sound.

Build a small go-bag

Keep a flashlight, phone charger, water, reflective triangle, and your insurance card in the glove box. If you travel with kids or pets, add a blanket and snacks.

When to pull off — and when to stay put

If the shoulder is narrow or traffic is heavy, stay in the car with your seatbelt on, hazards on, and wait for a tow. Changing a tire on I-5 is not worth the risk.

When a jump will not do

If your battery is more than five years old, a jump-start is temporary. Ask us to also assess whether a flatbed to a shop is the smarter call. For damage-free transport, we use flatbed tows.
